JMS art teacher Christina Gutierrez, will be one of several local Latina artists featured at MECA (she will be exhibiting her own art work after exhibiting our students’ work for several years)!
The exhibit begins on Wednesday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m. and she will be there for the opening. Exhibit lasts from March 18 to April 29.
Address is: MECA Dow School Campus
1900 Kane Street, Houston
Admission: Suggested donation of $5
The exhibit is inspired by the seventeenth century Mexican nun, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (1651 – 1695), one of the greatest poets and playwrights of her time and the first person in the Americas to defend the right of women to be educated. To better understand the exhibit, there is more info on Sor Juan in the attachment.
This is Christina’s first exhibit, so we all wish her well! Congratulations!
