We are proud to announce that Johnston Middle School has been nominated for the Blue Ribbon School honor. As the only secondary school nominated from HISD this year, the staff, teachers, students and parents are to be commended for their diligent work, which was the catalyst for this nomination. The award honors "schools for academic excellence and making significant progress on closing the achievement gap", "schools whose students achieve in the top ten percent of their state on state tests" and "schools that dramatically improve student performance to high levels on state tests". We are very proud to be nominated for this award as only five HISD secondary schools have won this award since 2003.
