On Monday, May 10, JMS traveled to Clifton Middle School for the IMPACT II Math competition. We were well represented and competed in Algebra, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Written, Mental Math, and Problem Solving. Both seventh grade Problem Solving teams placed first and second. Our other problem solving teams did well and came very close to being in the top three. One of our seventh graders, Amanda Nguyen placed 3rd in the Mental Math competition and both Amanda and Zoe Cagan placed in the top three in the Written competition. Our eighth graders, Ian Estes and Matias Kopinsky placed 4th and 5th in the Middle School Algebra competition. Matias also placed third in the 8th grade written competition. We are very proud of all of the students who represented Johnston. They practiced after school and on weekends to prepare for this competition. They called themselves the "Math Ninjas" and wore their T-shirts with pride.
